Robert Tagorda

Robert Garcia Tagorda transforms major educational organizations. As the Founder and CEO of Revival Strategy Consulting LLC, he provides strategic advising, program design, and executive leadership services to school systems, postsecondary partnerships, and philanthropic foundations. He serves on the boards of the California Cradle-to-Career Data System and New Heights Charter School in South Los Angeles.

Experience

Mr. Tagorda’s experience ranges from early childhood through higher education. As the Chief Academic Officer at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, which oversees the largest nonpublic school system in the country, he leads educational initiatives and programs that impact more than 66,000 students across 264 sites. His portfolio includes the expansion of academic services in the 30 most under-resourced campuses.

Previously, Mr. Tagorda served as an Executive Director at the Long Beach Unified School District, where he created its equity department with a $40 million budget. He had responsibility for strategic planning, Title I, after-school programs, charter school authorizations, and private school services. Most notably, he oversaw the Long Beach College Promise, which drew White House acclaim and earned the Governor’s Innovation Award in California.

Before entering the field of education through The Broad Residency (a nationally competitive leadership program), Mr. Tagorda gained experience in both the private and public sectors. At MAXIMUS, a government consultancy, he managed business development in the executive search practice, whose clients included municipalities, agencies, and nonprofits.

Education

Mr. Tagorda graduated summa cum laude from Claremont McKenna College with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. He earned a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School, where he was a Truman Scholar and a Teaching Fellow. He completed the Executive Instructional Leadership Program at the National Center for Urban School Transformation.
